Australian equities fund manager Portfolio Partners has beefed up its research capability with the hire of two investment analysts, with a third understood to be joining soon.
William Amentorp started at the Melbourne-based manager last week. It is understood he will oversee the financial services sector. Amentorp was an independent banking consultant for most of 2007 after a four month stint last year at Queensland-based alternative Australian equities manager Charter Pacific Funds Management. He previously worked at Macquarie and Westpac. Former Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank broker Richard Colquhoun also joined last week. He has spent the last three years as an investment analyst across six sectors at listed fund manager Argo Investments. A third analyst is understood to be joining the growing ranks. They will report to head of equities Glenn Hart. Meanwhile, analyst Sandra Waters – who left Portfolio Partners two months ago – started last week as senior research analyst at Charter Pacific. Portfolio Partners chief executive Craig Bingham declined to comment.
