Kate Farrar was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of LGIAsuper, one of Brighter Super’s foundation funds, in April 2018. Ms Farrar grew the fund from $10B with 75,000 members to now ~$30B with ~250,000 members, through the merger of LGIAsuper and Energy Super and the acquisition and subsequent merger of Suncorp Super.
Following the mergers, Brighter Super has integrated the activities of the three foundation and delivered fee savings of ~29% to local government and energy industry members whilst increasing services across Queensland. The fund now expects to deliver very significant savings to former Suncorp Super members by the end of 2023/24.
Ms Farrar remains responsible for delivering exceptional experiences and outcomes to all of Brighter Super’s members, through change and transformation that builds on the fund’s proud heritage.
Ms Farrar has 35 years’ experience in leadership roles across the finance and energy sectors. Her previous roles include Managing Director of QEnergy, Chief Operating Officer at Ergon Energy Retail, and senior positions at Morgans Stockbroking, Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Suncorp Investment Management and NSW Treasury Corporation. Prior to joining LGIAsuper, she was an Associate Partner (equivalent) at McKinsey & Company. Kate is also a Non-Executive Director with ASX100 company Seven Group Holdings.
Ms Farrar has a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree and a Masters degree in Econometrics and Finance. Through a scholarship from Chief Executive Women, she is also a graduate of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme.
