Nathan Rees heads MetLife’s external affairs and government relations. He is a former NSW Premier and senior Minister in NSW. After leaving the NSW Parliament in 2015, he has held chief executive roles in the not-for-profit and peak body sectors. Prior to his current role at MetLife, he was the National Assistant Secretary of the Finance Sector Union. He has a longstanding passion for good public policy development, and has worked at all tiers of Government. He has almost 30 years of public sector finance and financial services experience, including securing the NSW AAA credit rating during the GFC.
Rees’ experience enables him to provide unique insights into the reasoning and thinking behind legislative and regulatory changes, and broader budget imperatives, as they they relate to insurance and superannuation. Rees also sits on a range of boards, and enjoys bushwalking, cycling and reading in his spare time.
