The role of boards in investor relations, increasing activism by hedge funds, market volatility, increasing M&A activity and whether to give profit guidance to analysts are among the topics up for debate at the conference, which will also feature an address by ASX chairman Maurice Newman, and a panel featuring James Hardie chair Meredith Hellicar. The $80 billion Mercer Super has delivered a fourth consecutive year of double-digit returns to most members of its SmartPath lifecycle product. Global equities did a lot of heavy lifting, but chief investment officer Graeme Miller tells Investment Magazine that the fund is now looking further afield for returns.
