UK hedgie hires Australian connection

The big UK-based hedge fund manager CQS has recruited a senior international business manager with extensive Australian experience.

Martin Harris has joined CQS in London to head up international sales, after leaving a similar role at Fidelity International earlier this year. Harris previously held senior positions with Colonial First State and what is now UBS Asset Management in Sydney. The founder of CQS, Michael Hintze, is an expatriate Australian. The firm has about $A12 billion under management.

Blue skies and lawsuits power MLC Super returns higher

Global equities have driven most of MLC’s FY26 return so far, but its exposures to insurance-linked securities and “esoteric” credit have also put in the hard yards and helped the fund diversify beyond the AI thematic, according to chief investment officer Dan Farmer.
