Group insurer, MetLife, has appointed a new head of institutional business to allow Michael Burke to take on a new role at the firm.
Richard Anderson, currently a life risk specialist with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), will join MetLife in October. Michael Burke, the current head of institutional business, has accepted a newly-created full time role as vice president, new marketing opportunities. “I am very pleased to announce that Michael will remain with MetLife, where his extensive business knowledge and industry experience will continue to be a huge asset to our business,” said Tassin Barnard, MetLife’s chief executive. A MetLife spokesperson said Burke’s new role would allow him to step back from day-to-day client responsibilities and focus on new expansion opportunities.
Future Fund chief investment officer Ben Samild said that FY24 has been a great year for alpha creation, thanks to strong returns in equities and, unusually, across multiple hedge fund strategies all at the same time. He reflected the past few years have been “a difficult time to be an asset owner and to generate positive returns for risk assets” but the Future Fund is tracking well of its long-term mandate.
