Meet Investec's new sales chief

Investec Asset Management has recruited its new head of sales and marketing from Tyndall’s institutional business development team.

Justin Cowper, who left his position as head of institutional business at Tyndall last month, began work in the senior sales role at Investec on Friday, confirmed Mark Samuelson, managing director of the South African-headquartered funds management business’ local arm.

Reporting to Samuelson, Cowper would lead the manager’s business development strategies in Australia, which was oriented around “further developing our relationships with key funds, platforms and consultants,” the managing director said.

Investec runs a range of equity and fixed income strategies, plus a multi-asset capability, from its manufacturing bases in Cape Town and London.

Before his tenure at Tyndall, Cowper was director of institutional sales at Principal Global Investors’ Australian business, and before that an instituional business development manager at Colonial Frst State.
