APRA promotes Keith Chapman, Helen Rowell

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, regulator for most of the $1.4 trillion in superannuation assets under management, has appointed Keith Chapman as executive general manager of the diversified institutions division.

Chapman replaces Wayne Byres who is the new Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

A 13-year APRA veteran, Chapman will be responsible for the prudential supervision of banks, insurance companies and superannuation firms.

Helen Rowell is the new executive general manager of APRA’s supervisory support division, the division that contains the regulator’s enforcement unit. Rowell joined APRA in 2002.

APRA oversees banks, credit unions, building societies, general insurance, reinsurance and life insurance companies as well as friendly societies.
