AMP moves Brookfield out, Hoult, Pavnica in

AMP Capital has ended its three year joint venture with Brookfield Asset Management and has hired a head of global listed property investment as well as others for its real estate and infrastructure investment teams.

The asset management unit of AMP says Matthew Hoult, formerly chief investment officer of global property at BNP Paribas Investment Partners, will become head of global listed real estate investments. Hoult will move to Sydney from Singapore.

A team of listed property investors will be based in Chicago to cover the Americas. They will be led by senior portfolio manager Joseph Pavnica, former BNP Paribas Investment Partners head of American real estate.

Other new appointments to the property investment team are Robert Thomas, Matthew Hodgkins and Dominic Cappellania, who will all have dual roles as portfolio managers and analysts.

In listed infrastructure investments, Tim Humphreys will become AMP Capital’s head of global listed infrastructure investments.

Four analysts will support Humphreys, including two who have just been hired by AMP Capital: Kevin Scutt and Giuseppe Corona.

AMP Capital manages about $5 billion in listed property investments and about $500 million in listed infrastructure assets. It has 15 people in the listed real estate investment team and seven in the listed infrastructure team.

“We believe we can expand and grow the team,” says Brian Delaney, business director, client, product and marketing at AMP Capital. Delaney gave no clear reason as to why the joint venture with Brookfield ended.
