Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has recruited a fixed income and currency analyst from Intech into its institutional distribution team.
Simon Brinsmead will start at BGI in September as a consultant relationship manager, bringing a seven-year tenure as a research analyst with Intech to a close. In the transition from a research to business development role, Brinsmead will report to BGI’s head of institutional business Will Britten in the short-term while a replacement for the former head of the consultant relationships team, Charles Genocchio, is sought. Britten was confident that Brinsmead had the “variety of skills required for managing relationships” in the institutional market. John Gethin-Jones, the chief executive of Intech, said that Brinsmead’s duties would be covered by other analysts until a replacement was found.
Future Fund chief investment officer Ben Samild said that FY24 has been a great year for alpha creation, thanks to strong returns in equities and, unusually, across multiple hedge fund strategies all at the same time. He reflected the past few years have been “a difficult time to be an asset owner and to generate positive returns for risk assets” but the Future Fund is tracking well of its long-term mandate.
