The end of February marked two years from the when the markets bottomed in the wake of the GFC, and Australian and international share markets are still more than 20 per cent off their peaks, according to Chant West, and listed property markets are still even further back.
“So funds still face an uphill battle to get back to their pre-GFC levels – even those that are well diversified into unlisted assets,” said Chant.
Ryan Riedler, head of ASX core strategy, Australian equities at Cbus, says the fund will look to generate alpha locally through engagement and that internalisation will help it strengthen its connection with other market participants, as well as its brokers and service providers.
