Frontier Investment Consulting’s deputy director of consulting, Kristian Fok, is leaving to join Cbus Super as executive manager of investment strategy.

Fok, who has been with Frontier for 14 years, will join Cbus in December in a role he describes as a “great new challenge.”

“I worked with Cbus last year as they went through a review of their investment strategy and how they wanted to focus more on the return to members rather than competitor and peer risk,” Fok told IM Online.

“As part of that, the fund needed to build out their team, and it was attractive opportunity to lead the development of that strategy.”

Trustee director and current AvSuper chairman, Tom Grant, has announced his departure from the fund in January 2013.

Grant was the founding trustee director of AvSuper in 1990 and has actively served the fund members’ interests for more than 20 years, including as the current chairman of the board.

Damian Hill, chief executive officer of Retail Employees Superannuation Trust (REST Super), has been announced chair of the advisory council to the government on the implementation of SuperStream.

Minister Bill Shorten announced the appointment on Monday, saying that Hill had extensive experience in the industry and a strong awareness of the challenges the industry faces and the potential for SuperStream to deliver benefits for employers and for funds.

IM Online ventures that he’ll keep the day job.
