Katrina Bacon

The Fund Executives Association (FEAL) has appointed Katrina Bacon as chief executive officer, taking over from Joanna Davison who is retiring after nine years at the helm.

Starting her new role from January 1, 2023, Bacon has more than 25 years of experience in the superannuation industry. She was with KPMG’s superannuation advisory practice for 21 years and at Towers Perrin as a consulting actuary before that.

Bacon’s appointment comes at a time of much change within the $3.4 trillion superannuation industry.

“The challenges faced by fund executives include those arising from regulatory change, fund consolidation and growth,” Bacon told Investment Magazine.

“With the general increase of awareness of superannuation in the population, funds have a great opportunity to engage with members, especially around retirement.”

FEAL is the professional development body for superannuation fund executives, providing professional development and education for fund executives. The organisation provides support and development to C-suite executives and emerging leaders through its flagship Masters Program and Emerging Leaders Program, both run in conjunction with Melbourne Business School.

FEAL chair Brian Delaney said he was delighted to welcome Bacon to the association.

“She knows FEAL and its members well, and cares deeply about what we do,” Delaney said. “Her broad industry knowledge and insights will give us a strong base for FEAL’s next stage.”
