The median balanced option in super funds is expected to return 3.1 per cent in November, thanks to expectations of peak inflation, according to research house SuperRatings.

The median growth option also experienced a strong month with an estimated 3.5 per cent gain, while the median capital stable option had a return of 2 per cent owing to a lower exposure to shares.

Pension options also saw strong performance, with the median balanced pension option returning an estimated 3.4 per cent, median growth option returning 3.9 per cent, and median capital stable option returning 2.3 per cent.

Despite modest returns over the second half of the year, funds are on track to deliver a 6.8 per cent return after the first 11 months of the calendar year for the median balanced option.
