Jo Townsend has been appointed chief executive of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, the Crown entity that manages the NZ$70 billion ($64 billion) sovereign fund NZ Super.
Townsend led the $40 billion South Australian public sector focused Funds SA between 2015 and 2023. Prior to that, she held various roles at REST, including as general manager of investments and acting chief operating officer.
Townsend will take up her new role in April 2024, and Paula Steed will continue as acting CEO until then.
