Bivell bows out of Venture Capital Journal

Victor Bivell, the prominent journalist and publisher of private equity information, has sold his business, Private Equity Media, to a listed printing and specialist publications company, General Publishers.

Bivell, who started his flagship Venture Capital Journal in 1992, plans to concentrate on developing a magazine called ‘Eco Investor’ and embarking on some other projects. Bivell will work for General Publishers, a Sydney-based company controlled by the Aboud family, for 12 months. His assistant editor, Adrian Herbert, and advertising manager, Philip Thomson, and other staff will transfer with the titles. In a letter to subscribers yesterday, Bivell said that General Publishers, which has annual revenue of about $10 million, plans to use Private Equity Media as a beachhead to expand into financial services publishing. “With its publishing experience and access to capital I am sure it will be able to implement its plans to further develop the business,” he said.
