Watson Wyatt has been selected as the asset consultant for the Future Fund, with the contract being signed today.
Future Fund general manager, Paul Costello, said: “In conjunction with internal staff, Watson Wyatt will provide the board with advice on a range of issues including establishing an investment mission and philosophy, the development of the strategic asset allocation for the fund, and setting the transition strategy for entry into financial markets”. Watson Wyatt has already advised the Commonwealth Treasury on investment strategy for the Future Fund.
The $34 billion Brighter Super is set to shift a significant proportion of equities assets in MySuper from passive to active management. Chief investment officer Mark Rider says the move is possible because of the scale created by mergers, and the fund will be looking to its newly appointed active managers to generate performance through the cycle by taking idiosyncratic risks.
