Another Aussie makes good at ING IM

Another executive at ING Investment Management’s Sydney office has followed Grant Bailey’s lead into a major international role.

Eric Siegloff, after six years at ING IM in Australia, has become the manager’s European head of strategy and tactical asset allocation, based in The Hague.

Until recently one of three chief investment officers in the Sydney office – Siegloff oversaw ING-managed diversified portfolios, while James Wright oversaw individual asset classes and Emmanuel Calligeris the Optimix multimanager funds – Siegloff will now be responsible for investment strategy across all asset classes in Europe.

According to a note posted yesterday on the manager’s European intranet, Siegloff  will also "take responsibility for tactical asset allocation decisions relating to multi-asset funds managed by ING IM. In addition he will be actively involved in the communication of ING IM’s investment positioning to clients, research houses, asset consultants and the media."

Siegloff has already moved his family to Europe. His diversified portfolio responsibilities were shifted to underneath Calligeris late last year.

In 2007, then ING IM Australia chief executive, Grant Bailey, accepted a brief to establish ING IM in Dubai.  In short order he poached a Middle Eastern equities team from local banks and even a royal family office, and is currently assembling a fixed interest team.

Rest Super’s selective approach to PE pays off as program comes of age

Rest Super has built its private equity program around a deliberately selective approach to manager and deal selection, favouring a concentrated roster of external partners and proactively seeking out top PE firms rather than waiting for them to come knocking. Head of private markets Marina Pasika unpacks the program’s coming of age and what powered an asset class return more than double the peer average in the last financial year.
