Barclays aims to mimic hedge fund performance

“We are moving into a more inflationary environment,” says Nicholas Johnson, chief executive officer of Barclays Capital.

“That close correlation [to Australian inflation] is very desirable and the daily liquidity is a feature which struck me as being highly relevant because you can fabricate any hedge you want, but you can’t always get out of it quickly.”

Caroline Saunders, the industry veteran who once ran research house ASSIRT recently joined the investment bank to head the retail funds area. 

McCristal said the first roll out in the retail market would be a diversified fixed income fund, followed by equity-based funds.
