But even specialist media, such as trade magazine companies, are concerned about the future of their print publications and are looking to build up online outlets. So, with all this in mind, Conexus has decided to split the role of editor of the Investment Magazine and I&T News online newsletter, previously performed admirably by Michael Bailey. He will now be editor of I&T News only, while Simon Mumme has been promoted to editor of the magazine. Splitting the responsibilities should allow for a more distinct positioning of both titles.

With the increased journalistic focus on I&T News, we will be giving the news its own web page – it currently resides on the magazine’s site – and expect to move slowly to 24/7 coverage over time. Meawhile, undaunted by the online trend, our retail magazine, Professional Planner, edited by Simon Hoyle, will be moving to a monthly frequency from the current bi-monthly from early next year. And for my part, I will continue to write for our institutional titles, but for the next few months at least will be spending more time on our international newsletter for very big funds, Top1000Funds.com, which is edited by Amanda White. I will be moving to China for a period to look to develop new relationships with Asian funds and managers.
