Mercer’s Peter Promnitz to retire

Mercer’s Head of Asia Pacific, Peter Promnitz, will retire from his role at the end of the year and take up a role as an independent non-executive director.

Promnitz has led Mercer’s Asia Pacific business for the last 5 years, having held the role of Australia/New Zealand CEO for a number of years prior to that.  He is also a member of Mercer’s global Executive Committee.

Promnitz is currently a non-executive director of SFG Australia Limited (ASX: SFW) and will join the board of Australian Unity Limited in January 2013.

 

ASFA Board changes

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has appointed a new director to its Board and re-elected its Chair following the annual general meeting (AGM) held last week.

David Elia, chief executive officer of HOSTPLUS Superannuation Fund, has attended his first Board meeting as an ASFA director, representing industry funds.

“We are extremely pleased to have someone of David’s calibre join the ASFA Board and I’m confident our members will feel the same,” said ASFA chief executive officer Pauline Vamos.

Sunsuper chief executive officer Tony Lally was also re-elected Chair of the Board during the AGM, continuing his tenure for a fourth year.

 

Hastings adds to UK infrastructure team

Hastings Funds Management has announced the appointment of two new members to its European infrastructure team to strengthen the firm’s infrastructure equity, debt and business development capabilities.

Heiko Schupp has joined Hastings as Investment Director to lead business development, institutional relationship

building and fund-raising activities in the United Kingdom and Europe.

 

In his new role, will report to Peter Johnston, Executive

Director and work in conjunction with the London based investment team.
