Cbus is looking to grow its investment teams in Sydney and Melbourne, with the fund advertising three new positions.

It is seeking an investment specialist of private markets transactions; a manager of investment communications; and a manager of investment risk and performance.

The latter two will be based in Melbourne, while the role of investment specialist of private markets transactions could be based in Sydney, depending on the candidate.

“By also considering Sydney based candidates for this role we hope to attract a wider range of applicants with relevant experience in areas such as funds management and infrastructure investment transactions,” said Kristian Fok, executive manager of investment strategy.

The private markets transactions role will focus on evaluating infrastructure opportunities and working closely with Cbus’ fund managers and investment consultant.

The manager of investment communications role will be to increase Cbus’ external profile as a fund/partner of choice by adding a “unique voice” on key investment and economic issues.

Meanwhile, the manager of investment risk and performance will be tasked with enhancing the investment risk framework to improve the visibility of the key investment risks and assist in prioritisation of activities and research.

Trish Donohue, executive manager of investment management, said the new positions are designed to ensure Cbus has the right capacity to meet the broad investment challenges that will occur in the next few years as the fund continues to grow.

Cbus has $31 billion in funds under management and current projections will see this reach $50 billion over the next 4 to 5 years.

“We are building our portfolio management and investment innovation capabilities, focusing on optimising the net benefit for members,” Donohue said.
