AustralianSuper is gradually filling out its team and has started the new year with four new appointments across investments, marketing and finance.
Tony Cavanagh has been appointed to general manager finance and risk. He was most recently a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers but was also a co-founder of BOSS Software International. Diana Rob has been appointed to the newly created position of product manager. She joins AustralianSuper from Bravura Solutions in London and has also worked with William Buck Financial Services and IOOF. The investment team, under the helm of Mark Delaney, chief investment officer, has been filled out with the appointment of Kai Lee and Stephen Davis in the investment operations area. Their appointments follow that of Terry Charalambous to the position of head of unlisted equity late last year.
The $34 billion Brighter Super is set to shift a significant proportion of equities assets in MySuper from passive to active management. Chief investment officer Mark Rider says the move is possible because of the scale created by mergers, and the fund will be looking to its newly appointed active managers to generate performance through the cycle by taking idiosyncratic risks.
