JP Morgan Worldwide Securities Services (WSS) has recruited Martin Archer, a former hedge fund manager as head of alternatives in Australia, responsible for private equity and OTC derivatives as well as hedge fund product management.
Archer was most recently with Jaguar, the Australian hedge fund run by family associated with tennis great Ken Rosewall. Prior to that Archer held a senior position at AMP. Laurence Bailey, the regional head of WSS, said yesterday that he expected the Australian business to show strong growth and JP Morgan was recruiting in a number of areas. He said that Amy Newland, a private equity specialist for JP Morgan in New York, would transfer to the Sydney office in April, reporting to Archer. As reported last week, Bailey is hopeful of soon filling the position of chief executive for WSS in Australia, following the resignation of Tony Winwood in late January.
