Gail Burke, former managing director for BNP Paribas Securities Services, has taken up her first directorship upon her return to Australia, becoming the new chair of financial services systems provider Pentafin.
“I’ll be working with Connie McKeage, chief executive officer, and her management team. I guess hopefully I’ll be bringing some benefits of my long experience in technology both at the supply end and the buy end,” Burke said. Burke has just returned to Australia from London where she was chief operating officer of BNP Paribas Securities Services for six months, but left for personal reasons. Burke said she would ideally like to hold a ‘portfolio of directorships’ but would consider a full-time management position if the right opportunity presented itself. “People are talking to me about all sorts of things,” she said. McKeage was appointed as chief executive officer last July as part of the business’s growth strategy.
The brunt of losses from the LA wildfires are expected to be borne by primary insurers and high-risk reinsurance programs, but super funds are nevertheless closely monitoring the possible impact of the fires on catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities exposures.
