AustralianSuper, Mercer’s multi-employer master trust, NAB Custodian Services and Invesco have given some hope to displaced sales and marketing professionals, all making hires in that area in recent days.

Paul Souter has moved from running channel marketing at Superpartners to become a product manager at one of its biggest clients, AustralianSuper.

Souter has taken up the role vacated by Diana Robb while she is on maternity leave. He will report to James Coyle, the new general manager of marketing and communications who replaced Alison McIvor earlier this year.

Souter said his role would be focussed on strategic planning and the development of new offerings, as well as some maintenance and improvement of existing AustralianSuper offerings such as its direct ASX 200 Shares Investment option.

Post-retirement offerings would be a focus of Souter’s work, and indeed the marketer helped AustralianSuper develop and implement its pension offering while he was at Superpartners.

Meanwhile it will be a merry Christmas for the former head of marketing and strategy for Citistreet, Alex Kleiman, even though he lost that job when SunSuper bought the member administrator from ING a few weeks back.  Kleiman promptly secured a role running sales and marketing for Mercer’s multi-employer corporate super plans.

Likewise Anthony Jamour can relax over the break. He has picked up a role as senior client relationship manager with NAB Custodian Services, as the Melbourne-based asset servicer seeks to expand its Sydney customer book.

The former BNP Paribas Securities Services client relationship manager joined Arab Bank in April 2007 to spearhead a push into institutional funds management, but the position fell victim to the financial downturn in September.

Elsewhere, Invesco Australia has made three new internal appointments within its retail and institutional sales team. Tanya Diaz has been appointed to the position of national research manager, with overall responsibility for retail research house product ratings and relationships. Sonya Webb has been appointed to the position of platform relationships manager, with overall responsibility for platform relationships and platform listings.
Deborah Torgersen has been promoted to the role of client service consultant, responsible for institutional RFPs, RFIs and client report distribution.
