Guy Stern is the Investment Executive, Head of Multi Asset Fund Management for Standard Life Investments. Guy is responsible for the day to day management of the multi-asset fund management team overseeing the asset allocation on over £60bn in Standard Life Investments multi-asset portfolios. He joined Standard Life investments in April of 2008 from Credit Suisse Asset Management where he held the position of CIO for Multi Asset Class Solutions in the UK and US. He holds a BA from Rutgers University in New Jersey and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
John Succo graduated from Indiana University with a graduate degree in finance concentrating in option pricing theory in 1984. He worked at Morgan Stanley from 1984 to 1992 where he was influential in the growth and expansion of the institutional equity derivatives market. As a principal and head of index and structured product trading, he helped develop dispersion methodology in trading and managing derivative risks, which greatly increased the liquidity and consequently the application of derivative products in asset-liability management. In 1992 he became Managing Director in charge of global equity derivative trading at Paine Webber Inc. In 1996 he joined Lehman Brothers and ran derivative trading until 1998. He then joined Alpha Investments of New York heading risk management and as a director of the Investment Management Committee, managing internal and external capital investing in hedge funds. In 2001 he jointly founded Victus Capital, and in 2004, he jointly founded Vicis Capital.
Ric Thomas is a Senior Managing Director of State Street Global Advisors and is Head of Alternative Investments. Ric works across and with SSgA’s investment teams to build alternative and absolute return solutions for clients. Previously, Ric served as the Head of the North American Enhanced Equity team, where he helped design and manage large-cap, small-cap, and 130 / 30 strategies. In addition, Ric is a member of the SSgA Technical Committee and a member of the Senior Management Group.
Prior to joining SSgA in 1998 Ric was a quantitative analyst in fixed income for Putnam Investments and an Assistant Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Ric holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, an MA in Economics from the University of Colorado, and a BA in Economics from Colorado State University. Ric also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Matt Unsworth is head of Australian Equities at Merrill Lynch based in Sydney.
Matt headed Merrill Lynch’s EMEA specialist sales team from 2005 to 2009. In that period, the team’s ranking in the Institutional Investor sales survey increased from 6th to 1st place (2008 and 2009). During this period Matt also maintained responsibility for the metals and mining sector and was individually ranked number one sector specialist sales from 2004 to 2007.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Matt was a research analyst at ABN Amro and CSFB. He graduated from University of Melbourne in 1995.
Matt was appointed head of Australian Equities for Merrill Lynch in April 2009.
