HILL_Allison_june-2010Frontier Investment Consulting has appointed two analysts to meet growth in clients’ needs, and is seeking to appoint two more analysts.

The two appointees fill an existing vacancy and a newly created position, said Allison Hill (pictured), senior consultant with Frontier.

“We are also seeking two further appointments – one analyst and one associate consultant – in our specialist infrastructure and property businesses,” she added.

“We look for analysts who have appropriate education backgrounds to understand what we do and a keenness to learn,” she said.

“We then seek to train them in all aspects of investment consulting.  We have a strong track record of organically growing staff internally, which has helped Frontier’s strong stability of staff.” Frontier’s average tenure is 10 years.

The two analysts, Michael Sofer and Daniel Hunt, are both in their mid-20s. One will replace an analyst who returned to Perth for family reasons, and the other will take on the new position which “represents growth in our team to meet client needs,” said Hill.

She said that Frontier continues “to believe that flat fees, associated with performance fees, are a more appropriate structure for our clients. We have had good dialogue with managers in regards to this, which has been very constructive.”

She added that some managers “have amended fee scales to get better alignment” with clients’ needs, but that Frontier has yet to strike a flat-fee agreement with a manager.

Michael Sofer has just joined Frontier from the Portland House Group, where he was a global equities analyst. He has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering/Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace)/Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Monash University.

The second appointee, Daniel Hunt, is relocating from Brisbane’s McInnes Wilson Lawyers where he was a law clerk. Hunt holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Law from the University of Queensland, and he will begin with Frontier next month.

Frontier’s managing director, Fiona Trafford-Walker, said Sofer and Hunt would be involved in both client work, and investment research across a number of sectors. “We are pleased to welcome Michael and Daniel as Frontier continues to grow our team to meet our clients’ expanding needs,” she said.
