Leggo flies high to Telstra Super

David Leggo, the former long-standing chair of the Australian Government’s AvSuper, is to be the new independent chair of Telstra Super.

This follows the retirement of the outgoing chair, Clive Batrouney, who leaves the role after seven years.

Telstra Super, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on July 1, is governed by a trustee board of nine – four nominated by Telstra, four nominated by the ACTU and the independent chair.

Testra Super has gone for experience with Leggo’s appointment, which is for three years, having coincidentally spent more than 20 years with AvSuper and its predecessor fund for airport controllers.

Martin Crowe, Telstra Super chief executive, said the appointment was an important one as Telstra Super – Australia’s largest corporate fund with about $11 billion under management – entered its 21st year.

“David has extensive experience as a trustee director and his reputation as a strong advocate of member interests and excellent stakeholder management will be of enormous benefit…”
