The $5.5 billion Qantas Superannuation Fund has hired a third member to its investment team, focussed on implementation efficiency, investment strategy and risk management.
Mark Ferguson has joined Qantas SF from Queensland Investment Corporation, where he spent five years, most recently as head of overlay solutions in its Capital Markets business. He also worked on global TAA products during his QIC tenure, prior to which he was a portfolio manager for asset allocation and currency during a 10-year stint at Perpetual Investments.
At Qantas SF, Ferguson has the title of Manager – Investments, and reports to chief investment officer Andrew Spence. He relocated back to Sydney for the role, which he commenced on October 25.
In the July advertisement for the newly-created positon, Qantas said the role “includes a diverse range of projects, from reviewing the plan’s currency and rebalancing overlays through to researching evolving asset classes and stress testing portfolios.”
Last July, the fund created a head of investment operations role, filling it with Peter Savage (ex-JPMorgan).
It’s understood there were more than 60 applicants for the Manager – Investments position. The recruitment process was asssisted by Jon Michel Executive Search.
