Pinnacle Investment Management has named an ex-MIR Investment Management senior portfolio specialist as its director of product and strategy, saying the expansion of the team will further support the growth of its investment management boutiques.
Steve Gamerov left MIR Investment Management for “lifestyle reasons”, said MIR managing director, Michael Triguboff.
“Steve left us on very good terms and for lifestyle decisions. We think very highly of Steve and I believe he thinks the same of us,” said Triguboff.
MIR Investment Management is interviewing externally to fill Gamerov’s position, Triguboff said.
Gamerov, as Pinnacle’s director of product and strategy, will assist the incubator’s existing fund managers with their businesses and engage the funds management marketplace to distribute their products, Andrew Findlay, director at Pinnacle, said.
“We’re a house of boutiques; it’s all hands on deck really. We all get involved in a lot of different things. He’s going to be doing business development as well as product work, as well as strategy in working together with [managing director] Ian [Macoun] and the rest of the team,” Findlay said.
Gamerov brings 17 years’ experience in asset consulting, manager research and multi-manager portfolio management to the position.
“We like having people who can operate across asset classes and he certainly fits the bill, given his broad background,” said Findlay.
Before working for MIR Investment Management, Gamerov was head of investment solutions at St George Bank.
Pinnacle’s total funds under management have grown from $4.4 billion at 30 June, 2009, to more than $10 billion.
Gamerov said: “I’m excited at the opportunity of working closely with Ian and his team, many of whom I know well already, in such a strong and growing business.”
