Trustee of the year resigns

Maree O’Halloran AM, co-trustee of the year, is to step down from her role at HESTA today, where she has served on the investment advisory panel and the remuneration board.

O’Halloran, who was named AIST’s joint trustee of the year in March along with Bob Henricks of Energy Super, resigned after she left her role as director of the Welfare Right Centre, NSW, which is affiliated to Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) a nominating employer for the HESTA board.

O’Halloran is now a solicitor for NEW Law, a law firm that seeks to offer high quality legal services at affordable prices to unions, members of unions and the general public.

She said that she would be open to another trustee role once she has settle into her new workplace. She has previously spent seven years on the NSW SAS Trustee Board and five and half years as a trustee at HESTA.

HESTA is currently working through a nomination and selection process to replace O’Halloran.

A profile interview with O’Halloran will appear in the July edition of Investment Magazine.
