Walking the (100km) line for Oxfam

Under the name ‘Walk the Line (featuring Jono Pruden)’, Macquarie Bank employees Angus Cameron, Anthony Ford, Sam Vilo and Rohan Westacott raised $66,265 from donors to take out the Highest Fundraising Team award for the 2008 Oxfam Trailwalker in Sydney.

Macquarie also won the corporate fundraising challenge award, with the teams ‘Walk the Line’, ‘Donuts & Tim Tams’, ‘King Size’ and ‘Mosman Express’ collectively raising $151,000. The team and corporate fundraising awards for the biggest fundraisers of the 2008 Oxfam Trailwalker in Sydney were announced in November.

A team
from outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Paddy Pallin completed the 100
kilometre trek in the fastest time, clocking in at 14 hours and 24 minutes. All
teams attempt to complete the trail, which runs from Brooklyn
to Mosman, within 48 hours. To date, the 500 teams participating in the event
have raised more than $3.1 million. Oxfam is still accepting donations for the
event. The Oxfam Trailwalker is now in its 10th year. In this time, it has
raised more than $20 million for Oxfam programs fighting poverty and injustice globally.
