ConvergEx takes on Charles River in Australia

ConvergEx has introduced its Eze OMS order management system to domestic funds managers from a newly established sales office in Sydney, as rival company Charles River unveils an updated model of its investment management system.

Chris O’Connor, formerly head of European sales for Eze OMS, has been appointed to run the Sydney office, which opened in late 2009 and staffs full sales and client service teams.

In the US, UK and European markets, Eze OMS is regarded as a strong competitor to Charles River.

According to a company statement, the system provides real-time open architecture that supports investment decisions – from idea generation to settlement – in addition to broader portfolio management, compliance, trading and operations in a single platform.

Meantime, Charles River last week released version 9.1 of its investment management system.

The modified system completed the vendor’s transition to a service-oriented architecture and fully integrates order and execution management capabilities in a single platform, the company stated.
In the announcement, chief executive officer Peter Lambertus said the system delivered execution management, increased support for wealth management fixed income and derivatives instruments and analytics.
