The head of Mercer Investment Consulting’s Melbourne practice will move to Watson Wyatt in mid-May.

Martin Goss, who for nine years has managed Mercer IC’s Melbourne team, has accepted a senior role liaising with Watson Wyatt’s major clients in the same city. Recent wins of Victorian-based clients – most famously the Future Fund – had lead Watson Wyatt to appoint a headhunter for a senior role back in February, according to senior Sydney-based consultant Andrew Spence. “;We’re not specifying what funds Martin will be working on, although effectively our entire business is working on the Future Fund in one way or another,”; Spence said. “;We’ve built up a significant business in Melbourne and this is about keeping our recruitment strategy ahead of the curve.”; Head of Watson Wyatt’s investment consulting practice in Australia, David Neal, said Goss’ experience with large industry and corporate super funds fitted with his new employer’s client profile. “;His appointment highlights our strategy of adding high quality resources well ahead of targeted new business growth.”; Spence said Watson Wyatt had no specific plans to hire any more senior consultants at present. Goss’ appointment brings the total number of consultants and analysts at Watson Wyatt to 26.
